A supply shortage is an interruption of delivery of veterinary medicinal products that is expected to last longer than 2 weeks or a significantly increased demand that cannot be met adequately.

The availability of veterinary medicinal products is important for ensuring animal health. In order to obtain an overview of shortages in the supply of veterinary medicinal products in Germany in times of pandemics and other crises, the BVL provides marketing authorisation holders with a reporting form for this purpose.
