Tasks in the area of antibiotic resistance

The German Antibiotic Resistance Strategy, DART 2020, bundles all government measures and programmes implemented in Germany to limit antibiotic resistance. As a One Health approach, DART 2020 encompasses both human and animal health and also takes into account the role of the environment in the emergence and spread of resistance. Starting from the area of animal health, the implementation of various monitoring programmes is required by law, based on the Veterinary Medicinal Products Act (TAMG) and European regulations such as Regulation (EU) 2019/6. In addition, various measures are taken to limit the emergence of antibiotic resistance. The BVL implements the programmes and measures described below.
