Analytics of plant protection products

The active substances and relevant impurities in plant protection products must be analytically determinable in order to be able to monitor product quality for manufacturing and trading. A prerequisite for authorisation is therefore the availability of corresponding analysis methods. These methods are examined according to the provisions of Regulation (EU) No 283/2013 and 284/2013, and Guidance Document SANCO/3030/99 by the BVL.

The German-speaking working group for plant protection product analytics (DAPA) supports the BVL especially in supplying international validated methods for monitoring purposes. The DAPA develops and validates analytical methods in preparation of global ring testing by the Collaborative International Pesticides Analytical Council (CIPAC). Furthermore, the DAPA works in the peer validation procedure for enhancing methods for the determination of toxicologically and/or ecotoxicologically relevant impurities and for co-formulants which are relevant for health and environment. After successful validation these methods are included in the CIPAC manual on wich internation organisations such as FAO and WHO rely.
